Ore-Ida Potato Products, Inc. was founded by Idaho farmers F. Nephi Grigg and his brother Golden Grigg in 1952 with the development of a potato-processing facility located in Oregon, near the border of the state of Idaho. The company's name is a portmanteau of the first few letters Oregon and Idaho with the original logo comprised of the outlines of Oregon and Idaho with Ore-Ida superimposed in italicized letters. The name was used in the company's long term advertising slogan: “When it says Ore-Ida, it’s All Righta.”
