Ovation TV is a television specialty channel that airs programming dedicated to the arts and contemporary culture. It features programming devoted to performance, people, art, music and film. In addition, Ovation TV features in-depth profiles on various artists and performers, Arts news from the U.S and around the world and special programming aimed at children. Despite being considered an "arts channel", Ovation TV censors its content, most notably in movies and documentaries.
Ovation TV launched in April 1996. For a number of years the channel had limited coverage and was only available through a select few television providers. On August 30, 2006, a group led by Sparkler Entertainment and Ovation TV Ceo Charles Segars and Hubbard Media Group announced that they had purchased the channel, and intended to expand its carriage along with expanding the network's programming without diluting the focus of the network.
