It is a remake of the Telugu film Pakkinti Ammayi (1953) starring Anjali, Relangi, and singer A M Raja. It was again remade into the Telugu film Pakkinti Ammayi (1981) starring Jayasudha. This film also origins from in Tamil titles Adutha Veettu Penn (released in 1960) which stars Anjali Devi, Thangavelu and T.Ramachandran.
