Gidley played the female cyborg (or Gynoid) in Cherry 2000 and was a regular on Fox's short-lived paranormal drama Strange Luck. She also had memorable recurring roles as "Brigitte" in The Pretender, as forensic anthropologist Teri Miller on the first season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and as Lt. Nikki Raines in Tour of Duty. Gidley also appeared as murder victim Teresa Banks in David Lynch's 1992 feature film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.
Gidley also starred opposite Josh Brolin in the skateboard movie Thrashin' and had major roles in the films True Blue (opposite Tom Berenger), and Luster.
