Penn State Beaver is a commonwealth campus of Pennsylvania State University located in Monaca, PA.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s the student operated radio station, WBVR, broadcasted on 630 AM . The station went through periods of inactivity followed by great student interest. In Spring 2004, one student, Carl Kirkwood, managed to generate a great deal of interest in the radio station again. The WBVR club was formed with several members with the intent of reforming the station. The AM Transmitter was repaired, and a significant technology upgrade occurred adding webcasting capabilities. WBVR went online Fall of 2004 broadcasting once again on 630AM and online. By the spring of 2005, student membership had increased to over 30. Fall 2005 began the first full year of the station under full operation with a full staff. Currently, WBVR broadcasts only via webcasting on an MPEG-3 stream. The server information can be seen Here.
