The Perkins Pirate Marching Band has had the honor to attend the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) State Marching Band Finals every year since its creation in 1980, 32 years ago. Only two other bands in the state of Ohio have been attending the competition since its creation. In 2011 the band qualified at the Maumee Marching Band Competition in Maumee, Ohio and the North Coast Marching Band Festival at Perkins High School in October. by receiving a superior (I), and went to state for the 32nd year in November, where they received an a superior rating (I). The Director of the band is John Kustec, the assistant director is Joel Miller.
