Pete Abrams (born August 4, 1970) is the writer and illustrator of the online comic strip Sluggy Freelance.
Pete Abrams went to Joe Kubert School of Graphic Design but was unable to get a job in the comics industry after school. Instead he got a job as a web designer for a marketing firm, and started Sluggy Freelance as a creative outlet. He did not believe the attention span on the Internet was long enough for the kind of elaborate graphic novel he was used to drawing, so instead he went for a quickly drawn daily strip . (Since its inception, the strip's production has become more and more sophisticated both in terms of graphical and narrative depth. It no longer conforms strictly to the newspaper model of a short black and white strip on weekdays and a larger, full color Sunday edition.) Sluggy eventually became so successful that it is now his full time job, and he is reputed to be the first person to make a living at drawing webcomic.
