Dr Peter van Onselen (born 1976) is an associate professor in politics and government at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia. He writes a weekly column for the Inquirer section of The Weekend Australian and regularly contributes to the Sunday News Ltd papers. His academic research focuses on Australian politics. He previously wrote for various newspapers across the country as well as regularly for The Bulletin in 2007. He appeared on Channel Nine's Sunday program offering political commentary and presented cover stories on Australian politics in 2007 and 2008.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Political Science and a Masters in Policy Studies (with Distinction), both from the University of New South Wales. Dr van Onselen was awarded his PhD in political science from the University of Western Australia.
