Black made small appearances in Australian television shows, student films and children's theatre before joining the iconic Network Ten soap opera Neighbours in late 2005, playing her first major acting role of Elle Robinson for which she was nominated Most Popular New Female Talent at the 2006 Logie Awards. In June 2009 it was announced that Pippa will be leaving Neighbours along with co-star Brett Tucker. She filmed her final scenes towards the end of August. Elle leaves Neighbours after receiving a job offer in New York.
She and Sweeney Young, also of Neighbours fame, portray a young couple in a tumultuous break-up for the music video to Jacob Butler's 2009 single "Coma".
