Prince John is shown as a short-tempered, vain and power-hungry tyrant. Friar Tuck accurately describes him as "arrogant, greedy, ruthless" and "no-good." While he has the mannerisms and the affectations of both prior and proceeding Disney villains such as Shere Khan and Scar, he is portrayed as a less fearsome character; a gullible, infantile crybaby who starts sucking his thumb loudly (much to the annoyance of his henchman, Sir Hiss) whenever he hears his mother mentioned.
