Rampart opened as only the second high school in the district in 1983, and was awarded the National School of Excellence award in 1989. Rampart High School is located in Academy School District 20 of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Rampart High School is well known for its music program. Not only does the school have a multi-time state championship marching band, it also is home to concert band and orchestra programs. The school has, as of the 2007-2008 school year, three concert bands of differing levels, two jazz bands, and a string orchestra. It also offers a guitar class. The concert bands started attending the CBA state championships for concert band in 2007. The jazz bands attend many different jazz festivals throughout the school year, and have been doing so for many years.
