In 2269, the Enterprise visited the planet Holberg 917G looking for a cure to Rigellian Fever, a plague that infected the crew of the Enterprise. There, the Enterprise landing party discovered that Rayna Kapec (Louise Sorel) the supposed ward of a Mr. Flint was actually an android created by the immortal Flint to be his companion. The female android was designed to have the equivalent of 17 university degrees. Rayna was constructed to appear as a beautiful thirtysomething year old woman. Her one lacking attribute was her lack of emotions. Flint introduces Rayna as his ward to the ''Enterprise'' landing party. It was Flint's intention to have Rayna's emotions awaken using the charms and attraction that Captain Kirk (William Shatner) had for Rayna.
