Before attending USC, Bush was a highly-recruited running back out of high school. When head coach Pete Carroll recruited Bush for USC, he envisioned using Bush as a five-way threat. The freshman quickly proved he could carry, catch, throw and return the ball effectively. In 2003, he was a consensus Freshman All-American first-team selection and became the first Trojan since Anthony Davis in 1974 to lead the Pac-10 in kickoff returns.
