Estevez was born in New York City, New York, the daughter of artist Janet (née Templeton) and actor Martin Sheen. Her father is of Spanish and Irish descent. Her three brothers are also actors: Emilio Estevez, Ramon Estevez and Charlie Sheen. Her husband, Jason Thomas Federico, has been a professional golfer and is a chef in New York. They met at the California Culinary Academy, where he received a degree in culinary arts and she studied pastry and baking science. They married in October 11, 1997 in a Roman Catholic wedding at the Church of Our Lady of the Scapular-St. Stephen in New York.
