The casino was opened in 1994 as the Southern Belle Casino. That casino closed approximately four months after opening and remained shuttered for a short time. Harrah's Entertainment, which owned a Harrah's casino about a block away just off the main road, purchased the property in 2000. The company briefly operated both locations as Harrah's casinos, but eventually closed the older facility, selling it to Isle of Capri Casinos. The former Southern Belle became the sole Harrah's property.
