Rex immediately caught the eye of local waitress Katie Williams, who had worked at the pub previously under landlord Pete Callan. Rex gave Katie her job back at the bar and they became involved.
Rex's sister Hester, later put in an appearance and made life difficult for Katie.
On New Years' Eve 2005, Katie discovered video evidence that Rex had murdered his last girlfriend. Rex, upon finding this, strangled Hester with her own pearl necklace, killing her. Rex then tied Katie up before planning what to do next...
The outcome of Katie and Rex's fates were left unresolved as the series drew to a close.
