Mr. Syron is chairman and chief executive officer of Freddie Mac, which is the second largest source of mortgage financing in the United States. Prior to joining Freddie Mac in 2003, Mr. Syron was chairman of the board of Thermo Electron Corporation. He joined Thermo Electron in 1999 as president and CEO, and became chairman in 2000. Mr. Syron served as chairman and chief executive officer of the American Stock Exchange from 1994-1999.
