The Riddler (Edward Nigma or Nygma) is a fictional character, a DC Comics supervillain, an enemy of Batman, and, in the mid-2000s, a partial ally to Batman. Created by writer Bill Finger and artist Dick Sprang, the character first appears in Detective Comics #140 (October 1948).
