Rob Cowen (born on 30 September, 1976) is a Yorkshire-born, critically-acclaimed folk singer and songwriter. He attended Leeds Grammar School and studied art at the University of Leeds. Released debut album "The Other" (Stubborn Records) in 2003 after spending time playing in folk clubs on the east coast of America. In trying to describe Cowen's distinctive voice, guitar style and lyrics, reviews drew comparisons with artists as diverse as John Martyn, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.
He released road-weary single "Lady Advertiser" in 2004, which premiered on BBC Radio 2 and featured Beverley Craven and Danny Thompson (Double bass partner of John Martyn and Nick Drake). Cowen moved to London in 2005 and developed a cult following through playing at local folk clubs and making monthly appearances at The Borderline venue in Tottenham Court Road.
