It's understood that he is a Tottenham Hotspur fan and is involved with Everton F.C. to help move the club to a new stadium. He indicated that he has no intention of taking over the club: "It's an endorsement of Bill Kenwright, an endorsement of David Moyes - it is not a takeover.
