He was born the third son of theatrical agent Robin Fox and actress Angela Worthington. He is a younger brother of actors Edward Fox and James Fox. Robert is married to Fiona Golfar by whom he has two children. He was formerly married to the late actress Natasha Richardson (1990–1992) and to Celestia Fox, with whom he has three children.
