For much of the late-1980s, he lived in Los Angeles and had minor roles. He landed his first major role in 1991 science fiction Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Patrick appeared in multiple television series roles, including The Unit, The Sopranos and The Outer Limits. Patrick later gained worldwide recognition for playing John Doggett in the American science fiction-horror television show The X-Files, he premiered on the show on November 5, 2000. His performance earned him a Saturn Award in the category for "Best Actor on Television" in 2001 and nominated the following year for the same award in the category "Best Actor in a Television Series"....
