King Richard of England is in the Holy Land as part of The Crusades. During his absence, his greedy and treacherous brother, Prince John, has been abusing the king's power in order to tax the peasants into poverty and despair. It is at this time that Robin Hood, along with his best friend and sidekick Little John, take up the mantle of assisting the oppressed population by robbing the collected taxes and returning them to the poor. The peasants hail Robin Hood and Little John as heroes, while a bounty is placed on their heads by Prince John, who declares them both outlaws.
