Youngblood, born in Belton, Texas, is of Native American ancestry from the Comanche tribe but is not enrolled as a tribemember. He graduated from Belton High School in 2000; his family insisted that he finish high school before he could do anything else. Rudy was raised in a single parent household without a father. He helped take care of his two younger sisters. Rudy attended school full time and worked as a construction laborer at the age of ten.
In 2005, Youngblood moved to Los Angeles, California after touring across the United States with the Native American Dance Theater. He made his acting debut in the 2005 film Spirit: The Seventh Fire.
