Ruth Jones (born January 1967, in Bridgend) is a Welsh actress and writer, best known for co-scripting and starring in the multi-award winning hit TV comedy Gavin and Stacey. Jones grew up in Porthcawl, South Wales. After attending Porthcawl Comprehensive School, she obtained a degree in drama and theatre studies from the University of Warwick, then attended the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff. Jones first worked in TV and radio comedy for BBC Wales in 1991, both writing and performing in several radio series and TV comedy programmes.
