Ryder Hesjedal (Born December 9, 1980) is a Canadian professional racing cyclist who currently rides for the Team Garmin-Slipstream. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia. A strong climber and time trialist, he was selected to the 2005 Giro d'Italia squad with Discovery Channel and helped Paolo Savoldelli win the race, although failing to complete the course himself. After the 2005 season he left Discovery Channel and joined the Swiss team Phonak. With Phonak he proceeded to have his best results yet, having finished fourth in the 2006 Volta a Catalunya and finished second in the 2006 Canadian Time Trial Championship.
