Graham Leggat was executive director of the Film Society from October 2005 until his retirement because of ill-health in July 2011. Leggat died a month later. His successor, Bingham Ray, appointed in October 2011, died while attending the Sundance Film Festival in January 2012 after a tenure of only three months.
