During the fall of 2010, Principal Dr. Amy Avina shaved her hair off after promising to do so if the school received an API score above the 800 threshold. The API score received was 812, making Segerstrom the first public high school in Santa Ana Unified School District to receive an API score above 800.
The class of 2008 was the first to graduate from Segerstrom.
