It was released in May 17, 2007 on Japan. The game is also the sequel to the Shining Tears game, with an upgraded interface. The main characters from Shining Tears will appear in Shining Wind as well. An anime adaptation of the game, along with its prequel, called Shining Tears X Wind, began airing in early April 2007. Like its predecessor Shining Tears, this game is illustrated by the renowned artist Tony Taka.
The game was released on Japan in May 17, 2007, and sold over 78 thousand units in four days, becoming the top selling game in the country in that week.
