Shrek and Fiona are now living near Shrek's swamp together with their baby triplets, but although the special is a Christmas film, it starts out in the summer where Donkey, already anticipated about Christmas, reminds Shrek that Christmas will be many days away, which, to him still seems like a short while away. Then it is autumn, and Donkey once again bursts out to remind Shrek how many days there are until Christmas.
