The Sioux City Explorers are a professional baseball team based in Sioux City, Iowa, in the United States. The Explorers are a member of the North Division of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball.They were originally to be named "The Sioux City Sioux", but changed their name in the wake of protests of Native American groups. Since the 1993 season to the present, the Explorers have played their home games at Lewis and Clark Park.
In 2008 the Explorers got 3rd place in the first half and then in the 2nd half they got first place with record of 31-17 But, lost in first round against the I-29 rival Sioux Falls Canaries 3 games to 0.
In the 1st half of the 2009 year the Explorers got 4th place with record of 22-26.
