Located about 20 km west of Jakarta, in Tangerang, Banten, Soekarno–Hatta Airport began to operate in 1985, replacing the former Kemayoran Airport (domestic flights) in Central Jakarta, and Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in East Jakarta.
