The stadium, was initially scheduled to open in 2006, with the capacity of approximately 55,000 seats, plans were later revised to increase the capacity to 60,000 with the option to expand to 73,000 if necessary.
The stadium will be anchored by an expanded 18,500-seat standalone Kop, an increase of more than 5,000 seats. The parabolic roof of the Kop stand is designed to focus the supporters' volume towards the pitch.
