Since the launch of the first rocket, Starchaser 1, in 1993 fifteen further launches have taken place with each new rocket being bigger and more powerful than the previous. Starchaser 3 crashed on its first flight in 1998. In 2002 Starchaser unsuccessfully sued the BBC to remove an article from that was critical about their chances of success in the X-Prize. The article was removed as part of an out of court settlement.
