Schweigert played quarterback and safety for Saginaw Heritage High School in Saginaw, Michigan. As a senior he was ranked as the No. 9 defensive back and No. 78 player overall in the nation by Prep Football Report. He was ranked as the No. 18 best skill athlete by SuperPrep and a four-star recruit (out of four) by Rivals.com. He amassed 1,502 rushing yards with 22 touchdowns as an option quarterback, threw for 500 yards with four touchdowns, and recorded 50 tackles with three interceptions and seven pass breakups on defense as senior. He was timed in 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash, and won the Michigan state champion in the 100 meters with a time of 10.45. He placed third in the 200 meters in 21.6.
