In 2003, Metallica staged the Summer Sanitarium Tour 2003, in part to promote their album, St. Anger. The first leg took place during 13 music festival appearances in Western Europe in June, while the second leg took place over 20 stadium shows in the United States and Canada during July and August. On this concert tour were in addition: Limp Bizkit, Deftones and Mudvayne did not play in Dublin. Instead Linkin Park and The Darkness played supporting Metallica.
