Swansboro is a town in Onslow County, North Carolina, United States. In 2007, the estimated population was 1,540. It is part of the Jacksonville, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. Swansboro is located in North Carolina's Inner Banks region. Swansboro is located at 34°41′36″N 77°7′38″W / 34.69333°N 77.12722°W / 34.69333; -77.12722 (34.693327, -77.127327). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.5 km²), of which, 1.2 square miles (3.2 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (8.96%) is water. The Town of Swansboro is governed by four Board of Commissioners members and the Mayor. The Commissioners are elected for four-year terms. The Mayor is elected for two-year terms.
