Mowry was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii to Darlene Mowry, who manages her children's careers, and Timothy Mowry, a police officer in California. His mother is African American and his father is Italian American; the two met during high school in Miami and later both enlisted in the military, becoming NCOs. He is the younger brother of identical twin sisters Tia Mowry Hardrict and Tamera Mowry. He also has a younger brother, Tavior Mowry.
Mowry starred and is perhaps best known as T.J. Henderson, a child prodigy, on the sitcom Smart Guy. He played Teddy on the sitcom Full House. He also appeared in Disney Channel movies such as Hounded and The Poof Point.
