Tan Yuling

Tan Yuling (谭玉龄) (1920 – 14 August 1942) was a concubine of the Emperor of Manchukuo, Puyi. Her name is sometimes transliterated into English as “Jade Years”. An ethnic Manchu of the Tatala clan, Yuling changed her Manchurian clan to a common Han last name "Tan" (谭) based on their similarity of pronunciation, due to anti-Manchuism in China following the Xinhai Revolution which overthrew the Manchu Qing dynasty.
