The company has opened stores in all but one state (the exception being Vermont as of October 2009), operating as Target, Target Greatland, and SuperTarget.
Target is the second largest discount retailer in the United States, behind Walmart. The company is ranked at number 28 on the Fortune 500 as of 2009, and is a component of the Standard & Poor's 500 index. The company is not affiliated with Wesfarmers or their Target Australia retail stores.
