Tatiana had artistic inclinations, being introduced to ballet, piano and drawing. Later, she demonstrated her athletic abilities by participating in track and field. During her teenage years, she modeled as well. After graduating high school, she applied to a Ukrainian university aiming for a major in archaeology. Her parents, not of the Communist Party, made her ineligible and thus she began her forays into the working world as a secretary of a tourist organization.
