Tavis Werts was formerly a musician for the ska band Reel Big Fish. He played the trumpet and the flugelhorn on Turn The Radio Off and Why Do They Rock So Hard?. Tavis left Reel Big Fish on October 15, 2001 due to conflicts with singer/guitarist Aaron Barrett. Tavis went to high school with Dan Regan, long-time trombonist for Reel Big Fish.
During his time with Reel Big Fish, Tavis recorded with artists such as "Weird Al" Yankovic and The Bloodhound Gang. Although Werts is rumored to have recorded songs with the band Less Than Jake, those rumors are untrue.
