Telekom Baskets Bonn was founded in the year 1992 when the German clubs of Godesberger TV (GTV) and SC Fortuna Bonn merged together to form the club of BG Bonn 92. The club then became known as Telekom Baskets Bonn in 1995, when the club's name was changed after it became sponsored by the German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom.
The club has made it to the finals of the German League in the years 1997, 1999, 2001, 2008, 2009. Bonn has also made it to the German Cup finals in the years 2005 and 2009.
