Terry Bozzio was born December 27, 1950 in San Francisco, California. He started at age 6 playing makeshift drum sets of various and dubious materials such as coffee cans, broken arrow sticks, and crumpled high voltage signs playing to the records of Tito Puente and the "Surf Drum" music of Sandy Nelson and The Ventures. At the age of 13 he witnessed The Beatles premier performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, and begged his father for drum lessons. On July 15, 1964 he began 6 months of lessons with Ken Blewer and Todd which consisted of reading music, rudiments, stick control and basic beats. During this time he played in the garage bands Blue Grass Radio, The Yarde, and Tamalpaias Jungle Mountain Boys.
