The album was nearly titled "Sweet and Sassy Streisand", the studio LP was released instead of an intended live album, which was recorded at the Bon Soir in New York, 5th-7th November 1962. Eight of these live songs were later included on the compilation "Just For the Record...".
The album cover shot was taken during a performance at the Bon Soir in New York.
The album was very successful for Streisand reaching #8 on Billboard's Pop Albums Chart even though none of the tracks reached the charts as a single. The album has been certified Gold by the RIAA.
