When Emily and Jessup Volnik find out that their father has inherited Castle Keep, they travel from their home in Canada to Scotland. After a short stay, they decide not to keep the castle. Emily and Jessup each get one piece of furniture. Emily chooses a rolltop desk, in which is a boggart, a mischief, joke-playing creature. As a result, he is shipped to Canada, where he discovers a new world. However, when he becomes homesick, Emily and Jessup try to find a way to ship him home.
