This version follows both the efforts of Fletcher Christian (played by Mel Gibson) to get his men beyond the reach of British retribution, and the epic voyage of Captain Bligh to get his loyalists safely to East Timor in a tiny lifeboat. Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, Liam Neeson and Daniel Day-Lewis star in the movie, which is generally regarded as a more revisionist depiction of the mutiny than the two other film versions of The Bounty, the one with Clark Gable and the one with Marlon Brando. It was directed by Roger Donaldson with a score composed by Vangelis.
