Differences between the book and this film: a) The undercover identity of Jason Bourne is simplified. In the book, David Webb, pretends to be Jason Bourne, who operates as an assassin called Cain. In the film, the name Cain is left out. b) the ending is somewhat different. In the book, Carlos escapes in the confusion, whereas in the film he is gunned down by David Webb at the last moment.
In 2002, the novel was adapted into a theatrical film, The Bourne Identity. Two sequels, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum were released in 2004 and 2007 respectively. The first film was based extremely loosely upon the original Ludlum source novel....
