The Dartmouth (informally known as The D), is a free daily student newspaper at Dartmouth College published by The Dartmouth, Inc., an independent, nonprofit corporation chartered in the state of New Hampshire. All editorial and business decisions are made by the students without any interference from the college.
The newspaper is published weekdays from September to June, except during examination periods and vacations, and on Tuesdays and Fridays during the summer months. The Dartmouth publishes two weekly supplements, Big Green Sports Weekly on Mondays and The Dartmouth Mirror on Fridays.
Special editions are printed for such events as Homecoming weekend, Winter Carnival, Green Key Weekend and Commencement, and a special freshman issue is sent to all incoming students. The college's humor society, the Dartmouth Jack-O-Lantern, does an annual parody of the paper.
During the New Hampshire primary, The Dartmouth is known for its interviews with the presidential candidates.
