The school was designated as one of the first six Specialist Music Colleges in September 2004, and the school's most recent Ofsted inspection saw it graded as "Outstanding". The current headmaster is Robert Masters, who has occupied the post since September 2004.
Judd strives for academic success, with prospective first-year students having to take the "eleven plus" examination in order to gain a seat.
